The Three “C”s for Supporting Individuals When They are Distressed

Some individuals are “sensitive,” “out of sync” or “explosive” – all words used to describe young people who are easily overwhelmed. These children especially benefit from loving support when they are distressed. As a parent of such a child and a child development specialist, I like to learn how to help my child and others like her.

Diocesan Initiative: The Gift of Time--CareBreaks in Providence RI

  "The CareBreaks program is a public/private partnership. Catholic Charities provides program support, with additional assistance provided in the form of grants from the state of Rhode Island, as well as the federal government through its Division of Elderly Affairs. Federal grants require matching funds so the diocesan support makes this program possible."

Children with social and behavioral challenges may have the most difficulty adapting to schedule changes, visits to unfamiliar places, and introductions to new people and foods.
