The entirety of the Body of Christ has God-given gifts to share for the benefit of all. Parishes that eliminate barriers to using gifts and actively seek information about and create opportunities for using gifts are significantly richer for it.

A few principles to keep in mind are:

  • Knowledge and experiences are often great gifts.
  • Not all persons know what their gifts are; parishes can help with discernment.
  • Persons who do not know that an opportunity exists, or what it entails, or that they would be welcome, cannot use their gifts.
  • We all have gifts. Persons with disabilities encounter more barriers to using those gifts than most.
