Parish Leadership Meeting

Wed, 10/09/2024 - 2:00pm EDT to 3:30pm

All parish leaders are invited to join NCPD for the upcoming meeting. The topic may be especially relevant for faith formation staff and youth ministers.

Evolution of Adapted Youth Ministry: Serving Teens into Adulthood

Learn how a parish created a youth ministry specifically for teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities by adapting an existing program using peer-to-peer mentors. Recognizing the need for continued faith formation and community into adulthood the ministry has expanded and evolved.

Tricia Borah

Tricia Borah

Coordinator of Teen and Young Adult Disabilities Ministry; St. Brigid Catholic Church, Johns Creek, GA

Tricia has served as the coordinator for her parish's adaptive youth ministry program for 6 years. Along with her family she was a volunteer mentor in the ministry for 5 years prior to accepting her role as coordinator. In addition to adaptive youth nights and sacramental preparation, the ministry organizes special events throughout the year such as prom and community events for families with children of any age affected by disability such as Trunk or Treat, Carnival, and sensory friendly mass. Tricia is passionate about creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and included and can participate fully in the life of the church.
