NCPD Affiliate Connect - January

Wed, 01/18/2023 - 2:00pm EST to 3:00pm

Join our first meeting of the year!

We meet with NCPD Affiliates on the third Wednesday of the month to address various disability-related needs of dioceses. Monica Rivera, a social worker and a mother of a son with a disability, will present on:

Providing Support to Families Receiving a Prenatal Diagnosis: From Pregnancy and Beyond

Monica will discuss the challenges she and her husband faced when receiving a prenatal diagnosis and how this impacted the care her son received. Her discussion will include the large network of support they had from family, friends, professionals and various organizations. Monica will offer suggestions on how our Catholic Church and parish faith communities can support individuals who receive a prenatal diagnosis, as well as persons with disabilities and their caregivers.

Takeaways for participants:

  • Challenges of our healthcare system when receiving a prenatal diagnosis
  • Impacts of prenatal testing
  • How to support families receiving a prenatal diagnosis and persons with disabilities

Diocesan Directors will receive an email on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, with a link to register.
