Emergency Plans
On August 12, 2009, the National Council on Disability (NCD) released a report outlining the barriers that persons with disabilities face when disaster hits as they “are left behind when it comes to national emergency and disaster plans,” http://www.lifenews.com/bio2915.html. The NCD report is titled “Effective Emergency Management: Making Improvements for Communities and People with Disabilities,” and contains several Federal recommendations as well as State, Local and Individual level interventions.
